Online job postings increasing in Iron and Washington counties
If job postings are up, can job growth be far behind? If that relationship holds, both Iron and Washington counties should continue to experience improved job growth through 2011. Online job postings collected by the Conference Board show Washington County July 2011 job postings up a whopping 39 percent compared to the same month in 2010. While Iron County didn't show the same year-to-year growth, its job postings have certainly trending upward for most of 2011.All in all, the current pattern of job postings is one more indicator that these two southern Utah economies are expanding.
In both counties during the last three months, sales-related jobs (everything from cashiers to commission sales) show the highest level of posted openings. Of course, these jobs traditionally have high turnover rates, but the current level of expansion undoubtedly reflects growth as well. Healthcare-related occupations and office/administrative support (clerical) occupations also high levels of job postings.
