Red Hills Desert Garden under construction
Work crews just broke ground on the project, the Red Hills Desert Garden. The $1.2 million project, which water managers said would be a world-class education center for teaching about water conservation and endangered species protection when it opens next spring. The Washington County Water Conservancy District is building the garden in partnership with St. George and Washington County, aiming to artificially re-create the local river environment by building a replica section of the Virgin River and its natural surrounding environment, complete with a stock of local native endangered fish species.
