Cedar City employees laid off

Because of a lagging housing market, the Cedar City has laid off seven city employees in four different departments to help with the 2010-11 fiscal year budget. Mayor Joe Burgess said all seven employees have been made aware that their positions have been eliminated. Two were let go in public works, one in administration, one in economic development and three in community development, which will eliminate the community development department altogether.
