Board OKs Dixie's university plan

Representatives from Dixie State College and local elected officials rejoiced Friday after the Utah State Board of Regents approved a plan for the local college to become a regional state university in three to five years. DSC President Stephen Nadauld said the institution's eventual transition would have a significant impact on the community's educational opportunities and economic development efforts. Nadauld said the transition is expected to require the addition of nine to 10 new four-year degrees at DSC.While the plan is subject to change, Nadauld said he expects DSC to begin offering degrees in history, art, foreign language, computer information technology and two composite degrees for students studying social science and physical science.
