The St. George Farm Service Agency is among 259 U.S. Department of Agriculture facilities in the United States and seven foreign countries that are being considered for closure as a cost-cutting measure. Federal officials said 131 Farm Service Agency offices will be consolidated in 32 states, including Utah. The St. George office, at 196 E. Tabernacle St., has no employees, but the building is used by a committee of farmers who help carry out the agency’s mission. Utah has 19 other agency offices that are part of a group more than 2,100 that will remain open nationwide. Salt Lake Tribune
