Kanab Appeals Officer upholds permit to Viresco Energy

The Kanab Appeals Officer has denied an appeal by the Taxpayers Association of Kane County (TPA) challenging the Kanab City Planning Commission’s issuance of a conditional use permit to Viresco Energy. The permit allows Viresco to exceed the height limitations in the M-2 zone for two smokestacks, if the applicant meets seven conditions. The conditions cover areas such as emissions, appearance, safety, and removal of the smokestacks if operations cease. Southern Utah News
