Note: According to permitting data from the Utah Bureau of Economic and Business Research, the number of new Washington County home permits was down just slightly (3 percent) between 2011 and 2010. January 2012 permitting data is available and shows a 61-percent year-to-year increase. While this gain is certainly substantial, permitting data is notoriously volatile. In other words, keep watching this data series for further signs of recovery.
