Ivins OKs Tuacahn Wash detention basin

The Ivins City Council approved a $592,000 contract to build a detention basin on the wash that sent flash flood waters downstream and into several Santa Clara homes during a storm two months ago. The dam, or dike, on the 13-acre site south of Tuacahn will not be designed to hold all of the water that may flow from the Red Mountain north of Ivins into the wash, but will “slow the flow.” The Spectrum
