Iron County summer road construction projects underway

UDOT construction projects in Iron County this year have a projected value of more than $16.6 million. Perhaps the most visible project is the work occurring along Interstate 15 through Cedar City. This $4.1 million project involves a roto-mill, overlay and structure-rehab project from mileposts 58 to 60. Included in the project is structure rehab on the four bridges along the freeway. The work along I-15 should be complete in September.

In Parowan, a long-awaited project to renovate Main Street is almost ready to get rolling, though construction work on Main Street is already a familiar site, as Parowan is replacing waterlines in preparation for the project. A $2.8 million contract was approved last week with Sunroc for construction and Kitchen said he expects construction to begin in August and be done in September. According to UDOT, the total value of this project is around $4.8 million with some funding acquired by the city through a grant from the Joint Highway Committee. The Spectrum
