Washington City planning new police station

Washington City officials are making plans for a new police station to accommodate population growth and the additional demands on the police department. They have hired JRCA Architects, based in Salt Lake City with a satellite office in Cedar City, to design a new station to be built on a city-owned vacant lot immediately north of City Hall, which is located at 111 N. 100 East.

The city plans to hire a contractor by late spring with that contractor taking 10 months to a year to build the 14,000-square-foot station. The building will cost an estimated $3.5 million, and the city will pay for it with impact fees and bonds. The city will cut costs because it already owns the lot. The Spectrum
