A new Holiday Inn is under construction near the Dixie Convention Center, marking the first in what could be a series of new projects moving in between the convention center and the nearby Virgin River. The hotel is in a commercial zone pegged for various projects over the past few years, part of an ongoing effort by St. George to attract new businesses supportive of the convention center while also selling off some of the property to raise capital.
The five-story hotel would have 130 rooms and be of similar size to the nearby Hilton Garden Inn, according to paperwork filed by Provo-based PEG Development, and an adjoining property could eventually be used for a second hotel.
