Road work coming to south River Road in St. George

The St. George City Council gave the nod last week to $2.9 million worth of improvements along the south end of River Road, including more lanes and a wider bridge over Fort Pierce Wash, as well as a traffic signal at Horseman Park Drive. Another $234,600 will go to a contractor to manage the project, which will include a wider roadway from Brigham Road to 2450 South.

Actual construction could start in the next couple of weeks, with plans to have it finished by late summer. The improvements will complete a long series of projects on River Road, which has become an important thoroughfare in recent years thanks to continued growth at the city's eastern and southern edges.
