Iron County Courthouse gets green update
Iron County received $184,700 from a U.S. Department of Energy grant to retrofit the courthouse to make it more energy efficient. The direct formula grant was made eligible to certain counties and cities throughout the country through the Federal Stimulus Package and the county wasn't required to match the funding like with other competitive-style grants. The idea behind the Energy Efficiency Retrofit Program at the county courthouse is to not only update certain systems within the facility like heating, cooling and ventilation, but to create awareness regarding the importance of energy efficiency.
