Funded by the federal government's stimulus program, the bonds would allow two private and two public entities access to low interest loans that could help them expand and create jobs.
Local businesses Design to Print and Parke Cox Trucking were allotted access to $3.5 million and $3.35 million respectively for expansion of their businesses. On the public side, Washington County was allocated $4 million for its new justice center, while Ivins received $5 million toward storm water improvements.
Officials were quick to point out, however, the money allocated doesn't go directly to the applicants, nor does the county maintain liability. That money, Chairman James Eardley said, is used to facilitate a low interest rate when the entity finds a borrower. The Spectrum
