Iron County School District Board approves tax increase

The Iron County School District Board approved a tax increase that will enable the district to hire 11 new teachers at the elementary through high school levels. But because another tax rate will be reduced, officials said the net result will be a 4.06 percent decrease in the overall tax rate. The Spectrum 

Note: The Iron County School District is the county’s second-largest employer after Southern Utah University. Public education accounts for more than 10 percent of total nonfarm employment in Iron County.
