Officials with the Bureau of Land Management announced they would turn down a request to offer up federal lands just outside of Zion National Park for oil and gas leasing.
The decision ends speculation about oil drilling and other extraction efforts on three pieces of land in Washington County, with BLM officials citing opposition from local and state government as well as the public.
