Of all Utah’s incorporated cities and towns, South Jordan also added the largest number of new residents in 2012—almost 2,600. Saratoga Springs, West Jordan, Lehi, Midvale and St. George were also among the cities with notable population additions. On the other hand, estimates show a number of cities with declining populations—notably Ephraim, Cedar City, Gunnison, Richfield, Logan and Price.
For the most part, smaller cities and towns topped the Utah list of those with the largest percent gains. Tiny Vineyard, with a 2012 population of only 180, floated to the top of the rankings with a 31-percent annual increase. With the second largest numeric increase in population, Saratoga Springs also managed the second-highest ranking for percent growth. Farmington, Vernal and Elk Ridge also found themselves at the top of the fastest growing tabulation.
