Construction scheduled to begin next month at I-15, St. George Boulevard

Work will begin next month on an ambitious project to redesign the St. George Boulevard Interstate 15 overpass that handles increasing volumes of traffic between downtown, the highway and businesses along the River Road corridor. The $16.3 million project is the first project to be built as a result of the environmental assessment that examined transportation solutions for the I-15 corridor between the Utah-Arizona state line and the Hurricane interchange for the next 30 years.

The new design will feature a “diverging diamond” interchange that will be a first for Southern Utah, utilizing a pattern that will force east- and west-bound traffic lanes to crisscross on each side of the overpass so that drivers will be temporarily on the left side of the road instead of the right.
