Conditional use permit submitted for Kane County solar plants

A Conditional Use Application was submitted to the Kane County Planning Commission by a representative from Glen Canyon Solar (GCS), a utility company out of Salt Lake City that produces electricity through renewable solar energy. GCS proposes construction of seven solar power plants to be constructed on approximately 4,800 acres in Kane County. The plants will be constructed on State Institutional Trust Lands Administration (SITLA) between Church Wells and Clark Bench. About 150 to 200 employees will be needed for this project. Despite concerns of nearby property owners, after lengthy debates, the commission approved the application, with one no vote, pending the completion of the required conditions. Southern Utah News
