Hearing set for solar power plant in Iron County

A conditional use permit has been approved for the Utah Red Hills Renewable Park in the Parowan Valley at approximately 2200 North and 2200 West.The proposed park, which encompasses 862 acres, is the future home of a 100-megawatt solar power plant to include 400,000 photovoltaic modules rated at 270 watts, which is subject to a public hearing Monday for the creation of a community development project area.The CDA would allow the developer - Scatech Solar of Norway - to qualify for state and federal tax credits post-construction while also encouraging financial investment by the private sector in the community. The parcels of land proposed to be contained in the CDA belong to Parowan Valley Holdings, LLC., and a living trust with Sen. Dennis Stowell, and his wife, Marilee, as trustees. The Spectrum
