St. George may get giant screen

Next year's summer movie experience could be a lot bigger for local moviegoers, thanks to help from federal stimulus funds. Earlier this week the Washington County Commission approved the allocation of up to $6.5 million in federal economic recovery bonds to Sunset Corner Properties Inc. to facilitate the construction of a giant screen movie theatre to be attached to the Westates Theatres' Sunset Corner Stadium 8 on the corner of Bluff Street and Sunset Boulevard.Similar to the giant screen located in Springdale, the new screen would display both 2-D and 3-D films at nearly three times the size of a normal movie theatre screen.
