- According to the 2010 Census, Iron County's population measured 46,163 individuals. That represents and increase of almost 13,000 residents since 2000. The accompanying 37-percent increase in population placed Iron County as the fifth fastest-growing county in Utah.
- Most of Iron County's cities and towns showed growth over the past decade. The one exception? The resort town of Brian Head showed a decline in permanent residents.
- With a 67-percent increase in total population, Enoch experienced the most rapid expansion. The county's largest city, Cedar City, grew by 41 percent. On the other hand, Brian Head experienced a 30-percent decline in total population. Other incorporated areas displayed comparatively lower growth. Interestingly, roughly 17 percent of the county's population lives outside incorporated city boundaries.
- Roughly 13 percent of the county's population belongs to an ethnic or racial minority group--far lower than the state average of 20 percent. The largest minority group--Hispanics/Latinos--makes up almost 8 percent of total population. Native Americans rank as the next largest minority category with 2 percent of total population.
- Most racial groups have seen their share of total Iron County population change very little between 2000 and 2010. The lone exception? The Hispanic/Latino ethnic group's share of total population almost doubled.
