Splash pad planned for Hurricane

Residents in Hurricane will have a chance to cool off this summer with the construction of a new splash pad at the city's community center. The $145,000 project, which includes multiple water features, will be the next step in the development around a former elementary school that city leaders are hoping to revamp into a central gathering place for the community. The city paid more than $2 million for the elementary school building last year and has hopes for a multi-purpose community center that could include the splash pad, a skate park and an open atrium.
