The unemployed train for energy-related jobs
The Southwest Applied Technology College in Cedar City has teamed up with the Department of Workforce Services and First Wind in Milford to offer an energy academy, a program for qualifying displaced workers to attain skills in solar and wind energy for job placement. The program started after DWS received a $4.6 million State Energy Sector Partnership grant to develop a workforce and create jobs across Utah in four industries: green construction, energy management/efficiency, renewable energy transmission and alternative fuels.
